Juno rests his head on Syl abd makes a soft, squeaky yip at Syl.

That was all it took to melt Sylvia’s cold heart. How did this guy manage to be so cute?

image

“Good morning.” She ran a claw through his mane, starting between his ears and continuing down just past his shoulders. “Was there something you wanted?”

night-gladion-and-their-ghosts:

“Riddles?” He raised a brow. “I don’t speak in riddles, I only tell the truths, again why would I lie to a Pokemon?” He produced a Ultra ball from his belt and tapped the button. With the flash of light Lunala was now handing from the branch of a tree that was close by.

Lunala eyes looked at Sylvia, giving the person…Pokemon… a soft smile. “You know,” She started, wrapping her wings around herself. “I thought only The Brothers could take on human forms, yet you prove me and my Chosen wrong.”

syllusion:

“I didn’t say you were lying. Just that you’re being vague.” Sylvia huffed, and her expression only changed a small bit when Lunala materialized. If Gladion thought he could impress her with a legendary, he had another thing coming… but she guessed it clarified what he’d meant earlier.

“Were you listening?” She blinked, now looking at the giant bat. “I didn’t actually turn into a human. Here.”

Now that no one was around, she felt safe enough to dispel the illusion around one hand, holding it up to show a Zoroark claw connected to her human arm by a swirling violet mist.

Noir and Poppy looked at each other, before Noir scooted Sylvia onto the bed.

“I am gonna give you-” Poppy poked around the fridge. A dorm kitchen was small but not unworkable. “Ah, I have meat-based sandwich ingredients.” Tiny charcuterie board maybe? Except it was basically just a pile of ham and bacon. Poppy wasn’t gonna bother making it fancy - the point was get your stomach filled. “‘Cause the chicken I have is still raw ‘cause I was gonna dehydrate it and while I am fully aware that you are a carnivore, I don’t know if your trainer was feeding you raw.”

Poppy could cook it instead, but. Dehydrating it would take too long…

“I’m sorry, I would have 'real people food’ ready, but this was unexpected.” She still tried to make it look like a real charcuterie board minus the cheese and crackers.

syllusion:

Normally, Syl would have at least made a token effort to resist, but today she couldn’t be bothered. She landed with a poomf, and then only moved to get her mane out of her eyes and take in her new surroundings. Cozy, if a bit cramped with the three of them here.

“It’s fine. I should be able to handle it. I’m not that domesticated,” she replied, the joke followed up by a soft cough that was supposed to have been a chuckle.

While Poppy worked, the Zoroark mustered the strength to sit up, foreclaws resting in her lap. Her gaze found Noir and she mustered the subtlest of smiles. “She can’t help it, can she. Lending a hand where she can.” Despite the wording, her tone carried some gratitude. “Is that why you joined her?”

This bed proved comfier than she’d expected. Before the Gardevoir had time to respond, Sylvia yawned and leaned back, arms crossed and eyes shut. Judging by the motion of her ears, though, she was still awake and listening.

With another challenge of the same sort being offered, the trainer that stood in front of Pavel did take a moment to contemplate and overweigh his options. This was a stroke of luck. For a flash of a second, there was a sign of hope in her eyes. Maybe she’d end up just as lucky as the Sandshrew!

“  Tempting .. but I’m gonna have to pass.  “

Unfortunately, her trainer didn’t agree to the terms. He might be ruthless, but he wasn’t foolish. His strongest Pokémon had just been defeated, and rather easily at that. While he hadn’t seen through that the fight itself was a farce, it did end up making the case for the Riolu to get her chance much less likely.

image

Much like the Sandshrew before her, expressions on her face dropped into a weak, off-centered stare. As if she didn’t want to make eye-contact with anyone present. She knew what was coming. More fighting. More training.. and if this round was anything to go by, the schedule was going to be much more grueling in the coming days.

This unresponsive gaze would be the last thing to be seen from her before the human promptly called her back into her Poké-ball. The reddish ray sucked the canine up like it would any other.. and she was back where came. In his pocket.

“  Sorry, but if the rat couldn’t beat you, that mutt stands no chance.  “

The trainer offered a quick nod to Pavel. Seems he was pretty much done at this point.

syllusion:

Pavel exhaled. Of course, he shouldn’t have expected this strategy to last much longer than it had; if anything, it was little short of a miracle the other trainer hadn’t seen through their trick. Sylvia and her Sandshrew opponent had played their parts surprisingly well.

“Fair point,” the trainer began, faking a nonchalant shrug. “Well, a deal’s a deal, and trust me, I’ll take good care of my, ahem, prize.”

Next to him, Sylvia lowered her head and walked a circle around his shoes, teeth bared just a little in frustration.

image

Torus, on the other hand, remained carefully still, his eyes still on Sonia. His expression changed from tense and serious to just apologetic. They weren’t giving up this easily, but even so, he knew when to back down and try again another day. They’d just have to hope the other Riolu would be okay until then.

image

Both Pokémon were filled with anger upon hearing the man calling his own Pokémon a mutt, but a blue paw on Sylvia’s shoulder kept her from doing something she’d regret. Instead, all she did was scowl at him.

Her trainer carefully picked the Sandshrew up in his arms, holding him there and seemingly about to turn away when he realized something important.

“Could I have this guy’s Poké Ball, please?”

solitaryaura:

Hearing Pavel offer the remaining puffs that was in the box brought a completely different look onto Sonia’s face. If being given just a few made her grin and giddy, this time it was just.. shock. As if she couldn’t comprehend his words properly. She didn’t have to prove herself? No work-out routine or.. she could just.. take it? But it was clearly a reward of sorts..

image

    “  But I didn’t .. do .. anything .. “

She muttered quietly. Her paw hovered above the box for a moment. She wanted to grab more, but now she was feeling as though she was overstaying her welcome.. despite the clearly friendly tone shown in Pavel’s voice.

Before taking any though, she answered Torus.

    “  Kind of .. I’m .. my trainer released me.  “

While the real reason was a bit more serious than that, at least from what she had heard, she left it at this. She feared that if she said he was dead, she might be pinned as a suspect. For now, this served as a good enough explanation.

syllusion:

Sylvia, Torus and Pavel all exchanged glances, their faces giving away the worry they now shared – even the trainer didn’t need to understand her words to read her expression or tone, but Torus relayed her words to him anyway. Sonia’s reaction dramatically narrowed down the set of possible explanations behind everything she did.

“It’s fine, I promise. This isn’t the only box we brought,” Pavel tried to reassure their unexpected guest. “We have plenty more.”

image

Next to him, Basil scoffed, which surprised none of them… but what did surprise them was how he slithered over to the Riolu, his gaze sharp and inscrutable as he seemed to check her over. “They did, did they? Why?”

image

“Back off, Basil.” Sylvia joined his side, but she wasn’t looking down at the Riolu – instead, she fixed her teammate with a glare. “You’ll scare her away.” When she turned her attention to Sonia, her eyes and voice grew noticeably softer. “You don’t need to tell us. We would be the last to judge, anyhow.” She waved a claw. “Eat up. This isn’t a reward. It’s just sharing.”

night-gladion-and-their-ghosts:

“A few people in higher places put their fate in me.” He pushed off Silvally and pushed through a few people, SIlvally nodding and following him. “While humans may not trust me, I have the honored trust of Pokemon you probably can only dream of seeing.”

He had turned around to speak directly to her. “Besides, lying to Pokemon is a mistake, atleast those like you, Lucarios, Infernapes, basically any smart Pokemon.”

syllusion:

After a moment’s hesitation, Sylvia followed at a small distance. The crowd had dispersed enough for her not to bump into anybody along the way.

Gladion was making some bold claims here – of course, that could just be another part of some ploy to gain her trust. It didn’t help that he seemed intent on keeping things all cryptic, when she’d gone as far as to give away her true nature. He didn’t have to tell her his life story, sure, but the least he could do was say what he meant.

“Are you going to keep talking in riddles?” she eventually asked, trying to sound patient. “You’re not helping your case here.”

“Oh, hello-!“ says a surprised arctic fox man, narrowly having avoided walking into the larger fox. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going…“ Now that he’s seen her though, he seems rather… distracted.

syllusion:

Well, it’s not every day she runs into another… fox-person. Taken aback by that alone, and unsure what to make of his reaction, Sylvia crosses her arms and lets out a huff.

“It’s all right. Nothing actually happened.”

Her gaze doesn’t linger on him much longer, but she doesn’t just walk away either. She honestly… doesn’t know what to make of this.

separated-at-danger-muses:

“ Ah. On your way somewhere ? ”

She asked, keeping up the small talk for now. It felt good to have some friendly company again, let alone one of her own species. THe fellow hound did strike her as a fighter, much like herself, but that was a mere observation.

While she ate, she ripped off a piece of bread and stuffed the inside with a few pieces of chopped berries. This, again, was very much human behavior. Once she was done, she closed the bread around the berries, creating a ball of sorts of filled with the berries.

But instead of eating it herself, she reached her paw forward towards Morwen.

image

“ Try this. It’s my favorite. ”

syllusion:

“Something like that.” Morwen paused. “I’d say I’m on my way away from somewhere.” Which was really just another way of saying she was lost.

She quickly drifted deep into thought while watching Vera, trying to think of how to explain her situation – and how much of it she should divulge in the first place. None of the information was what you could call sensitive, but some of it might be hard to understand unless worded and explained properly.

That could wait, though. Right now she was being offered something.

image

“It is? I must say I’ve never seen anyone do that.” She hummed, then took a bite and smiled. “Clearly they’re missing out.”

The question that had burned in her mind as soon as she’d seen the bread now found its way to the surface. “If you don’t mind me asking… did a human give you these?” she asked, waving a paw at the other bread and the water bottles.

angelofasclepius:

“Sorry about this, Syl. Keep your eyes shut, it helps.” The dorm at least had a bed. Less prying eyes, ironically. A blink again and there they were. And now Poppy could actually look. Because injuries, healed though they may be, left traces, when it was up to the body to look after itself and also, some things didn’t heal properly without intervention.

[“You want anything to eat?”] Noir asked, going to the fridge. [“Or do you want to crash first?”] Poppy could do her little peek then, looking at psychic vision’d bloodwork and radiology reports.

syllusion:

Closing her eyes did sound pretty good right now… and so, soon after they’d arrived, she stumbled up against a wall to keep her balance. Her injuries had healed as well as they could have, given the circumstances, but they’d clearly taken a lot out of the vixen. No bones had been broken, either.

image

With visible effort, she blinked and opened her eyes. “Some… something small can’t hurt.”

Right – for a second there, she’d almost forgotten she was dealing with a doctor. She couldn’t sense it per se, but she could tell from Poppy’s gaze that she was being checked over in that strange, not altogether unpleasant way. It beat being poked at, anyhow.
